Tahini gives this shake a roasted sesame edge, with dates providing sweetness and a little body. It is a cold whey-based shake, distinct from the warm tahini milk and ice-cream dessert versions.

Step by step
Make it like a pro.
About 6 minutes hands-on plus a 10-minute date soak.
01
Check the dates for pits, weigh 20 g edible flesh and chop it. Soak in half the soy milk for 10 minutes to soften.
02
Blend the soaked dates with their soaking milk and the remaining soy milk until no chewy pieces remain.
03
Add the tahini and weighed whey powder, blend until smooth, then add the ice and blend briefly again. Pour the entire batch into a large glass.
Why are there date pieces in my tahini protein shake?+
Dry dates need time to soften. Chop them before the 10-minute soy-milk soak, then blend that mixture smooth before adding powder and ice.
Is the whey in this tahini date shake optional?+
It is required in the reference version. Leaving it out changes the protein, texture and flavor; the displayed estimate would no longer describe the drink.
Does adding whole dates mean this shake has no added sugar?+
The whole dates provide intrinsic fruit sugar, but the selected whey reference does not report a dependable added-sugar split. The complete added-sugar field is therefore withheld; no zero-added-sugar claim is made.
